The Institute of Internal Auditors announced a new book, Ready and Relevant: Prepare to Audit What Matters Most, written by seasoned practitioner Tim Berichon.
Described as the IIA’s version of “Audit This, Not That,” the book focuses on specific strategies, tactics, and examples to help auditors build and maintain an effective internal audit function. The book does not attempt to teach auditors how to audit but offers insights to auditors on what to audit for the most value.
Specific topics in the book include internal audit as a rotational department, enterprise risk management, building a more diverse resource plan, relationship management, and focusing on competencies rather than skills. This knowledge can help auditors to have the confidence to audit anything, and the wisdom to know what to audit.
