Amid growing concerns over governance issues, India fintech company BharatPe announced that it would be conducting an independent audit of its internal process and systems.
The development comes just days after its founder Ashneer Grover took voluntary leave after an audio clip surfaced that exposed a fight between Grover and the Kotak Mahindra Bank. Grover’s wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, who also works at the company as Head of Controls, has also gone on leave.
“The board of BharatPe is committed to the highest standard of corporate governance at the company and is doing an independent audit of the company’s internal processes and systems,” the company said in a statement. The company also noted that it has hired Alvarez and Marsal, a leading management consultant and risk advisory firm, to oversee the audit and advise the board.
