Richard Chambers

Ever since longtime president and CEO Richard Chamber of the Institute of Internal Auditors announced his decision to step down next year, the IIA has been looking for a replacement.

The organization, the internal audit industry’s acknowledged leader and most recognized advocate, has exclusively tapped global executive search firm Korn Ferry to head the search for Chamber’s successor. The Forbes-ranked best executive recruiter is using a set of criteria established by the Search Committee of The IIA to find global candidates qualified for the job.

Selection is expected early next year before Chambers is set to step down on March 31, 2021.

“This is a critical time for The IIA, not only because of challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, but also because of our history and the importance of ensuring momentum as a leader for the internal audit profession worldwide,” said Past IIA Global Chairman J. Michael Joyce Jr., CIA, CRMA, who is heading The IIA’s Search Committee, in a statement. “We are conducting a global search for a strong leader with impeccable credentials and experience who can build upon our accomplishments and define and execute bold strategies to address a sometimes uncertain future.”
