The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, a professional organization for internal auditors in the United Kingdom and Ireland, has appointed Anne Kiem as its new chief executive.
Kiem has extensive leadership experience in the business, educational, and non-profit sectors. She joined the Chartered IIA from the Chartered Association of Business Schools (Chartered ABS), where as CEO for eight years she oversaw the organization being awarded its Royal Charter. Prior to her role leading the Chartered ABS, she was also CEO of the Institute of Financial Services. Kiem was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2019 for her services to small businesses and entrepreneurs.
“I am delighted to have been appointed Chief Executive of the Chartered IIA,” said Kiem. “I am very much looking forward to leading the organization over the coming years, working with all our brilliant staff, members, and stakeholders to ensure that we have a strong internal audit profession for the future. All businesses need to have robust mechanisms in place to monitor processes and practices to ensure long-term success and in more risky, uncertain, and volatile times the need for professional internal auditors has never been more important.”
Kiem replaces Interim CEO John Wood who left in December 2022.
